Leonardo - Urushi Essenza Aka Tamenuri 2022 Pen Venture Exclusive (LTD

Pen Venture brings forward a new project with Leonardo Officina Italiana, the 4th in line for 2022, a collaboration that resulted in an exclusive model - Urushi Essenza.

With a minimalist version body shape that was coated in multiple urushi layes by Teodor Oneata (PenTeo), a Romanian artist established in the Czech Republic, this time we opted for a no clip fountain pen (we offer clips only on demand - check our video overview for an example, and mention in order notes if you want the clip).

We chose to work with Teo not only because of his talent and his pen making craftsmanship, but also his knowledge in applying the urushi coating. Our choice for the technique used on this model is Aka-Tamenuri, a beautiful red composition that, just like water in a pond, at the fountain pens edges it reflects more light, revealing a lighter red.

The depth of the red color and the quality of the lacquer finishing make this fountain pen one of our best accomplishments after nine months of work, so we chose a name to match it - Essenza - our passion and our drive to accomplish our goals, and make our dreams come true.

Urushi Essenza comes with all the qualities already known from Leonardo Officina Italiana in a luxurious and dynamic package - a high quality Japanese ebonite body, a piston filling system that you can disassemble with the piston tool, a size #8, 14k Gold nib, and a heat set ebonite feeder in red to match the color of the fountain pen.

A limited edition of only 13 pieces + 1 Artist Proof summing up to 14 writing instruments, this collection is presented in a handmade oak box, created by a talented local woodworker, naturally died with vinegar to preserve the beauty of the wood texture.

Gravitas Vac 2

The construction of the Vac 2 is flawless. The textures of the materials and it's simple lines display an elegant beauty. The large steel nib delivers a pleasant writing experience and also provides a bit of flex.

Amazing Pen! Gravitas makes one of the best piston fillers out there. I dont keep the nib and normally use the pen for coustom flex nibs with Jowo #6 compatible nib units. So, i really cant speak on the nib. However, this pen is just built with high quality components. The weight, feel, and overall aesthetics are unmatched. You wont find better at this price point.

Platinum Sansui - Smooth Operator

I recently acquired the Platinum Maki-e Sansui pen in a Medium nib. The Pen Venture team was kind enough to carefully inspect and tune this pen before sending it on to me. Many thanks for that. It writes very smoothly and with a steady flow of ink. The Medium nib is my favorite nib configuration from the Platinum brand. The line width is nice and thin and always writes consistently right of the box. This lovely Maki-e pen was no different. I highly recommend it.

FANTASTIC!

The VAC 2.0 is a great improvement to an already great pen (the original VAC Ultem). The weight and balance are spot on. The cap and the new threads engage without hesitation. No missed closures and the cap has a nice stop when threading back on. It posts securely without issue. Filling with the Kraken system is easy. I got a medium nib and it is smoooooooth. Mine is on par with my 823 medium nib The smoothness, wetness and bounce would make you think it's a gold nib. Line width is slightly narrower than the 823 medium. The pen feels solid and well built. I'm not worried about this one getting knocked around. Overall a great pen. Shipping from Pen-Venture to Colorado was five days! Great pen and service all around!
