The Sailor 1911 King of Pens Ringless Ukiyo-e Tominomori Sukeemon-Masakata Fountain Pen is a limited-edition masterpiece that unites traditional Japanese art with the finest craftsmanship. Part of Sailor’s prestigious King of Pens series, it pays homage to the legendary samurai Tominomori Sukeemon-Masakata, a central figure in the historic Ako Incident. Its design takes inspiration from Utagawa Kuniyoshi’s renowned Ukiyo-e woodblock print, capturing the elegance and spirit of Edo-period artistry in every detail.

Handcrafted with Iwate Urushi lacquer, each pen reflects centuries of Japanese tradition and expertise. The lacquer is sourced from the Johoji region of Iwate Prefecture, an area known for producing the majority of Japan’s lacquer and recognized by UNESCO for its cultural heritage. Using the Taka Maki-e technique, in which lacquer is layered with charcoal and tin powder, artisans create a raised, three-dimensional effect that brings the samurai to life on the surface of the pen. Made from premium ebonite and finished with an oversized 21K gold nib, it offers both luxurious aesthetics and an exceptional writing experience.
