Received my pen 1 week ago. Silver model.
Fits well in my hand, and the texture makes it so it doesn't slip in my fingers. A bit heavier than my other pens, but it doesn't fell like it.
Unposted, it's well balanced
The nib has only a little springiness to it, which I almost never feel anyway, because this pen writes with almost no pressure. A bit wet, which like !
And it's very smooth, absolutely no scratching.
The absence of clip is unusual, it makes it more 'pure', but I have to take care not to let it roll on my desk.
The engraving (visible only with a magnifying glass) is a cool touch.
It's instantly become my daily pen.
The fit and finish are first class. The n. 8 nib is superb, perfectly tuned and smooth with the right amount of feedback. Shipping was very fast, as it always is with the Pen Venture team.
This Monster has been on my purchase list since Ben started teasing it in 2024. I couldn’t wait to purchase this because I’ve always enjoyed the innovation from Gravitas and this new filling system I looked really neat!
It arrived in a nice case and per my usual with a perfectly tuned Broad nib by Emy. I filled it with The Wet Pen Elliot Bay ink and it writes beautifully, feels great in the hand, and the 8 nib size is amazing.
I was disappointed for about half a day on the operation of the piston knob and getting ink into the section, but in a DM with Ben I learned it was completely user error.
I thought you had to pull the valve up slightly to allow ink to go into the section but in doing so squirted ink everywhere. I was not pleased. Ben kindly told me you only have to life the knob slightly to lift the first piece as it then allows ink to flow through two holes in the second. Problem solved!
Gravitas pens are beautifully designed writing instruments and the Monster is no exception. The quality of the materials and its filling valve make it a bargain in this price range. I’m hoping for a stainless steel model in the near future. As always, the purchase experience with Pen Venture was awesome.
this pen is just awesome. big ink capacity, well build, comfortable to hold and write with. Smooth writing... I have all 3 versions and I am very happy. this pen is definetly worth buying. and it is not very expensive so I can recomend to everybody who likes bigger pens.
