A modern yet classic piece of working art

This pen is everything hoped for, and everything I had heard it would be. With a little bit of luck it will be a go to pen for many years to come. Minimalistic yet beautiful and sleek in its design. I love this nib (medium) as it is smooth and writes like glass. Well worth the price point in my mind and it shipped quickly to boot. It has been in my EVD carry bag since I filled all 7ml up. Long journal sessions are a joy with it as it is not too large for my hand and just feels perfect weight wise. You might get the sense I sort of am gushing a bit. I am. I haven’t found much about this pen so far I don’t like. Hope this helps! Happy writing!!

the Gravitas Monster Fountain Pen

I recently bought the Gravitas Monster fountain pen Black from Pen Venture, after hearing so many good things about it - and I’m glad I did. The pen looks fantastic and feels solid in hand. All the parts fit perfectly, and you can really sense the quality of the workmanship. The fine nib writes beautifully, smooth and precise. I especially appreciate that the Pen Venture team checked and adjusted the nib before shipping, which made it perfect right out of the box. It also comes in a sturdy case that keeps it safe from damage, and the large ink capacity is a great bonus for longer writing sessions. Overall, the Gravitas Monster is a well-made, reliable pen that’s a joy to use. Great product, great service - highly recommended!

Gravitas Monster Black

The pen was larger than expected but with good weight and balance. I can get use to the size. Nib out of the box is wet and smooth. If any complain I wish there is a small brass roll stopper at the widest part of the cap and even less turn to uncap.

Excellent pen, delightful purchase.

I've waited a couple of weeks to review from purchase. For context, I've owned the pen for about three weeks, I've written through one super fill, around ~800 words in total. The pen is the black model, with a fine nib.

Overall, the Gravitas Monster is my favorite fountain pen I've owned. The ebonite feed makes the Monster write wetter than the Ultemate Vac Filler, which was my one compliant of that pen. The pen is large, but for my hands, a perfect size. One of the only pens, other than the 149, which I don't have to post to write comfortably. The Monster is perfectly manufactured and well designed, I love the contemporary design, it's unique in a sea of cigar-shaped, plastic pens.

Pen Venture was quick to ship, their shipping notifications numerous and helpful, and I was pleasantly surprised to see a hand-written note of thanks from the PV team. Something no company in my country would ever do.

A must-have ....

I saw Emy's review on the website and was impressed. I have several Gravitas fountain pens, but none with an ebonite ink feed. I bought it in black with a broad nib. Emy wrote to me, that he had tested the nib before. The innovative filling system with the large ink capacity blew me away. It writes beautifully, smoothly, and wet – a real pleasure. Emy, thank you and Penventure for the brilliant service and fast delivery. I absolutely recommend it.

Zoom 727

I was very lucky to find a Zoom 727 with Pen Venture. It’s similar to the iconic 707 but it’s slightly larger form makes it more usable for daily use. It’s none the worse for that and scooped an if Design award in 2004. Bizarrely, it’s discontinued now! Get it while you can from Pen Venture. My thanks to them for their great service.

Skipped so much I had to replace the nib unit with parts from my storage. Quite disappointing. The cap now screws on, I preferred the slip cap. It's faster. It's working now but I won't be spending any more money on gravitas.

The Vac 2

The Vac 2 is a refinement of both the Monster and the previous Gravitas vac fillers. This is a very robust, beautifully balanced writer that will bring pleasure to even the most particular purchaser. The filling system holds just the right quantity of ink. Long writing sessions are a breeze without the risk of having ink sit in the pen for extended periods. I have used this pen extensively since it arrived and have found it to be consistent and reliable. The nib is smooth and flows evenly with the lightest of touches. I prefer this pen over the monster because of its size and balance. The Vac 2 becomes an extension of my hand, allowing me to forget its presence and locus entirely, focusing on what I am writing.

Substantial, reliable, and smooth

The Gravitas Vac 2.0 is an amazing tool for handwriting. The nib is smooth, distinct, and reliable, and it has some weight due to its durable materials, black aluminium/aluminum and ultem, the perfect combination of a tool which will survive most of us, still functioning if the internal vacuum piston system is cared for. I have enjoyed this fountain pen for seven days and I am pleased to say it is one of my better ones, and it is fun to use. I recommend it.

(Emy was correct: The nib has great flow, about six drops of ink will automatically flow from the nib after I have just filled it, after that no problems; tissue paper or the ink bottle under the nib until that happens is recommended, other than that: an excellent fountain pen.)
