In 1952, Ballograf became the first European manufacturer to use special ink for official documents. By 1956, they introduced another ink type that met the Svenskt Arkiv standard, required for Swedish archival documents due to its light resistance.

Each Ballograf refill writes up to 8000 meters and fits all Ballograf pens except the Pocket model. The tip is made of Japanese stainless steel, and the tungsten carbide ball is coated to prevent ink drying, even after long periods of disuse.
